Brady, Challenges are awesome but I'm worried this won't work for my puppy because they are...
You name it and it has been done. This method works for all shapes, sizes, and personalities because it doesn't discriminate or label. That means it is based in science and the brain works in a very specific way.
When is my puppy too old to learn these skills?
Ideally the younger you start the better. I have had puppies begin learning at 8 weeks old!! I prefer to start before they are 1.5 years old, but since we train with science and compassion based games, there is really never an age limit. So if you have aspirations for your current dog, then when would now be a good time to start?
What is this fancy RECALL word you mentioned?
A recall literally means "The action or faculty of remembering something learned or experienced" A fancy way of saying your dog remembers to come to you when you say their special word, aka "Come", "Here", "Approach", "Present", "Tomato". Truthfully, it can be anything that happens, smell, sound, sight, feeling, your dog associates to running to you. Maybe food going into their bowl, or you grabbing their leash for a walk, hmm maybe we can use these to help train a super fast recall???
I'm not very tech savvy, will it work?
I am glad you asked, you'll see the application is very simple and if you feel you can watch videos on Facebook, then you'll be great.
What will I need to bring?
Proactive rather than reactive, I like it. We will need leverage, because I hallucinate you wouldn't go to work if you weren't paid and I feel our dogs need reinforcement too. So grab two values of treats a high and low. If you can, use unsalted chicken or beef, that will really create focus. Next, grab their leash and a favorite toy. I hope you have a crate, you will want that, and a towel or blanket around the same size that you don't mind your puppy walking on. Bring a notebook and pen to take notes and I will handle the rest!
What can I expect to learn from the "5 day, teach your puppy to stay, or you don't pay" Challenge?
You can expect to learn how to create a puppy who loves to stay in their crate, focus, and has confidence because we will build in layers!
Is there a guarantee?
There is. If you show up, play the games full out, practice for 5 minutes each day, live in do land, and still don't notice a change in your dog, then I will 100% give you a refund and a free 30 minute 1-1 lesson to address your unique challenges.
Why do I need to record my training?
Because it is so much fun to look back on when they have graduated and what gets measured gets managed. We are setting your puppy up for the big goals coming up and it will only help us get their faster.
How much money is it really?
The "5 day, teach your puppy to stay, or you don't pay" Challenge is $39!! I believe in these methods and I want to serve the community by giving what I know. This keeps more dogs safe and selfishly, helps me fulfill my mission of spreading the benefits of game based training.
Are you going to tell me I need to intimidate or correct my puppy?
Never. There is absolutely no need, if our puppy or dog is making a mistake it is probably because of the person who trained them. I believe in treating people and dogs the way I want to be treated, Personally, I got spanked and sat in time out for way too much time and didn't learn a thing. And honestly, as soon as I was out of my parents sight I did it anyways... So I am gonna hallucinated and assume our dogs and my clients feel the same way when they get corrected. So I reinforce positive behaviors and set up strategic games to get results that serve the greater good.
What type of methods do you use, why should I trust you with my puppy?
I appreciate your due diligence! I feel investing in a trainer says a lot about who you want to model and what you believe as a leader. That means I use psychology, compassion, and curiosity to create solutions. And that really means I take ownership of what is happening, set up situations where it is easy for puppies to make the right choice, and then build from there.
Susan Garrett says it best, our dogs are doing the best they can, with the training they have received, in the environment we have asked them to perform in.
How will I know if my puppy is having fun?
We take their T.E.M.P. of course!! Their tail, eyes and ears, mouth, and posture will tell us everything we want to know. Tail wagging back and forth, eyes bright and ears up, mouth relaxed, and posture loose and having fun. If that changes we want to look at what is happening and make it a little easier. Meet our puppies where they are at, not where our ego assumes they should be.
Do I really need to be goofy and playful?
Absolutely, our physiology is of major importance and our puppies pick up on our energy. Because their nose is so good they can literally smell when we are stressed, anxious, or afraid. That means we want to shake it off, take a deep breath, and smile when we become frustrated. Have fun, and enjoy the obstacles because your puppy won't be here forever and they sure do forgive us when we mess up. TONY ROBBINS says, life is happening for you, not to you. You can play full out and be goofy friends, because it only helps speed up the training.
Will this work when we are at the dog park?
Of course, I am sure you have seen dogs waiting patiently for their owners to call. There is no difference from their dog to yours, besides what they associate to staying. For example when I tell my dog to sit and wait, I will sometimes reward him by walking back and giving a treat. These simple rewards of going back to and rewarding their controlled position only strengthen their focus to wait for your next cue.
Who did you learn from?
A brilliant trainer by the name of SUSAN GARRETT. Because she has done so much to advance the world of dog training and dog agility. As she is a 38 time world agility champion, I follow her instruction and advice. I am a student in 5 of her courses and continuously review and learn from her. She has given me permission to teach her content and that is why you will see her name through out my program. Please explore her content and methodology more, https://dogsthat.com
